Classic Warhol Double Elvis Poster

If you were only going to buy one Elvis poster in your life...

If you were only going to buy one Elvis poster in your life, this would have to be it.

It’s the classic Andy Warhol “Double Elvis” poster from his “Silver Elvis” series.

Warhol produced the series of pictures in 1963 based on images from the 1960 film Flaming Star. He printed the portrait 28 times in black paint, and then rolled it onto a metallic silver background using various combinations. He produced a variety of single, double, and triple superimposed pictures. The double is my personal favourite.

This version is real top-of-the-range. It’s made via a Giclee printing process which delivers a fine stream of ink resulting in vivid, pure color and exceptional detail that is suitable for museum or gallery display. This print is produced on a 300 gsm, acid-free and cotton-textured watercolor paper.

Sure, it’s expensive. You can get the same picture in much cheaper versions.

But if you want something that looks as good as an art gallery version – this should be your choice.

Why Oh Why?

Well, they say there’s no accounting for taste – but for me, this is an abomination.

It just looks and feels like cheap attempt to cash in on Elvis.

Apparently they’re “handcrafted of artist’s resin and skilfully hand-painted”. And “strong demand is expected…you won’t want to miss out”.

Maybe I’m being a bit snooty, but I’ll pass on this one.

Elvis Memorabilia Collage Jigsaw

Here’s an unusual gift that’s perfect for an Elvis fan.

It’s a 1000 piece jigsaw featuring Elvis in the jail house rock outfit with other Elvis memorabilia (pictures, album covers, etc.) in the background.

It’s the kind of thing that most Presley fans won’t already have – so it would make a great birthday present. And as well as providing hours of entertainment, the finished jigsaw could be framed and used as a picture.

I really like this. The collage works well and it’s the kind of thing I’d genuinely be more than happy to have on my wall.

Charm bracelets are all the rage at the moment. And what better way to keep up with fashion than with a timeless Elvis Italian Charm Bracelet.

There are 17 charms, featuring Swarovski crystal. They include Elvis lettering, hanging charms, symbolic charms and messages.

This is another example of a nice, subtle item that would make a great gift.

Elvis Cuckoo Clock

To be honest, I’m afraid a gaudy Elvis cuckoo clock is not quite my cup of tea.

I can imagine this being fun for the first few days you have it. Every hour out pops Elvis to sing a clip from either Hound Dog, Don’t Be Cruel, Blue Suede Shoes or Jailhouse Rock.

But hour after hour, day after day?

I can only repeat the words of magician Michael Close in one of his first product reviews for Magic magazine:

“If you like this kind of thing, then this is the kind of thing you’ll like.”

Exactly.

Classic 1968 Elvis Comeback Poster

I love this poster. It’s probably me just reading too much into it, but I seem to see both confidence, and yet also a bit of trepidation: perhaps wondering if this is actually going to work.

It’s a classic image from a wonderful event.

The poster is 20in by 20in (including a white border round it).

Elvis Illustrations from Betty Harper

Lovingly Produced Illustrations of Elvis Throughout his Life

Betty Harper is THE Elvis illustrator. Over the years she’s made over 10,000 illustrations of Elvis documenting every period of his life.

“Every time I draw him I see another side, almost another person,” Betty says. “Just when I think I’ve exhausted all the possibilities, have sketched every angle, every expression – I begin to draw and discover another.”

Up on ebay at the moment is a copy of her first book from 1979, “Newly Discovered Drawings of Elvis Presley”.

If you’d like to see some of the most thoughtful and caring illustrations of Elvis, this is a must-buy. It’s very difficult to get hold of nowadays.

The auction ends on Feb 12th at 14:30 PST.

Elvis Ladies Sneakers

A Brilliant Idea to Treat Yourself or as a Gift

This is an unusual review to start with – not your traditional memorabilia or collectible. But for someone looking for a nice gift for a female Elvis fan, it’s just perfect.

I’m not normally a big fan of Elvis clothing. I like something subtle rather than something which blares out “I love Elvis” from every corner. For me, for example, cufflinks work much better than a gaudy tie. You kind of know inwardly that you’re supporting the King, but you don’t have to show off to everyone. And if they do spot them it becomes a talking point rather than something so “in their face” that they don’t mention it.

These Ladies Sneakers work the same way. They’re very nice, they’re clearly Elvis, but they’re not “in your face”. I like them a lot.

They’re made of black canvas, with “through the ages” pictures, diamanté-style ELVIS lettering and with a trademark Taking Care of Business (TCB) charm to set them off. Personally, I’d prefer them just with the lettering and charm – no pictures. But they’re pretty fine nonetheless.

They come in sizes 6 to 10 and have a 30-day money-back guarantee from Collectibles Today, one of the biggest and most reliable collectibles suppliers on the web.

They’ve gone straight to the top of my shopping list for my wife’s birthday!
